Greenland AMO: Arctic Midnight Orienteering (25.06.2011)

This race was really adventure and one of my hardest orienteering at all. Start at 11 pm, during midnight sun. I was running with men who had the same speed like me at the beginning but I missed no 2 and I didn´t notice in hilly terrain where they punched control thus unfortunately I was running whole track alone with one Eskimo woman behind my back (until no 9 when it started to be boring). Refreshment at the middle of nowhere (control no 6) was wonderful - chocolate, fruits, drinks and Eskimo woman wishing nice rest of the race :-)). It was the best tasting of Greenland landscape with amazing views on the ice floes during the course on the one hand and the really hard fight in hills on the other. As the reward for all was next day ceremonial and party with local food and habits. Good ending our first three days competition!
